A Special James Hartline Report November 28, 2005 Warning! Another Wolf Among The Sheep: Introducing The Real Joel Anderson & His Attempt To Scam The Christian Conservative Movement In San Diego!
Joel Anderson has declared himself as a Republican candidate for the 77th State Assembly District Seat to be vacated next year by Conservative Christian State Assemblyman Jay LaSuer. Anderson presents himself as a pro-life Catholic in hopes of luring Christian Conservatives to support his effort to become the "family values" candidate against his opponent, Christian Conservative Republican Debbie Beyer in 2006. (JHR) In the three year history of investigating corruption in San Diego by the James Hartline Report, it has been the goal of this publication to protect San Diego's Christian Community from those that would use them, and then discard them. Since our publication began, there has never been a more blatant case of deception, than the one that has been uncovered regarding Joel Anderson, a long term Republican Conservative in East San Diego County. The findings from a three month investigation by the James Hartline Report reveals a catastrophic moral collapse by Joel Anderson in the 2003-2004 campaign season, and an extremely clear pattern of political prostitution which is likely to send shockwaves throughout the county Republican Party, as well as the Christian Community that has given their support to Anderson in his many past campaign endeavors. When Joel Anderson's name was attached to the endorsement list of Phil Thalheimer's pro-homosexual campaign in 2004, red flags should have gone up throughout pro-family conservative circles in San Diego County (http://www.philthalheimer.com/endor.php). Phil Thalheimer & Joel Anderson: Partners In A Moral Catastrophe. Without question, Phil Thalheimer has run one of the biggest scams in the history of San Diego's Christian Conservative involvement with the local county Republican Party. Thalheimer has painted a picture of himself in the past year, of being the hero of Christians in San Diego with his taking charge of the sixteen year battle to save the Mt. Soledad Cross and presenting himself as the best friend that churches could ever have found to battle the ACLU and preserve traditional religious rights (www.soledadnational.com). In very recent days, Thalheimer can also been seen across the local media spectrum with his newly found interest in returning the term "Christmas" to the "December Nights" event in Balboa Park (http://www.restorechristmas.org/endorsements.htm). Quite unusual, since Thalheimer is not even a Christian. Scanning down the endorsement list of the Restore Christmas website, one can find, both Thalheimer's name, along with Joel Anderson, as well as many of the Republican party faithful that rabidly supported pro-gay Mayor-elect Jerry Sanders and the failed candidacy of pro-homosexual Republican candidate for San Diego Mayor, Steve Francis. Information obtained from published reports in San Diego's leading homosexual newspaper, The Gay and Lesbian Times, paints a far different portrait of Thalheimer. Clearly, Thalheimer is one of the biggerst supporters of the homosexual agenda in California's Republican Party. The evidence of Thalheimer's involvement in the gay agenda is, both shocking, and disgraceful for the Christian Community that Thalheimer has recently aligned himself with, as he led his politically motivated campaign to save the cross atop Mt. Soledad, as well as his new found crusade to return the name "Christmas" to the public square. Last year, in the heat of Thalheimer's 2004 campaign race against Scott Peters (D) for the San Diego City Council, District 1, the pro-gay Thalheimer agreed to be interviewed by transvestite porn-promoter Nicole Murray Ramirez for a July 29, 2004 edition of the Gay and Lesbian Times. Ramirez is the radical gay activist who dresses up as a Catholic Nun and calls bingo at the gay bar Bourbon Street (www.bourbonstreetsd.com). The fact that Thalheimer agreed to be interviewed by someone who mocks the very religious beliefs behind the cross, brings into light the true motive behind Thalheimer's political crusade to save the cross on Mt. Soledad: Thalheimer's support of the cross would present him in a positive light with true believers if he runs for elected office in the near future, without really supporting the faith at the core of the cross itself. The Dark Side Of Thalheimer According to Ramirez's interview with Thalheimer, the former Republican candidate for the San Diego City Council, is one of the biggest supporters of homosexuality in San Diego history (www.gaylesbiantimes.com/?id=3122&issue=866). Ramirez wrote: "Our popular District Attorney (lesbian) Bonnie Dumanis, the first elected GLBT elected to this office in the nation, endorsed Phil Thalheimer for San Diego City Council along with other GLBT leaders like Big Mike Philips (board member at the Gay and Lesbian Center), City Commissioner (transsexual) Julia Legaspi and many others. "This past Monday, I (Ramirez) had a meeting with Phil Thalheimer at City Deli and let me tell you, all those rumors and stories about Phil being anti-gay, aligned with the Christian Right, etc. are completely false. I (Ramirez) found Phil Thalheimer to be very down to earth, blunt and honest and just a really nice guy. Thalheimer supports the use of marijuana for cancer and AIDS patients when prescribed by their doctors. He has come out AGAINST the federal marriage amendment, he believes the Boy Scouts should be paying the fair market value for rent in Balboa Park, and he supports the AIDS needle exchange program and study that is now going on in our city...Phil Thalheimer will be making an outreach effort to the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender community and I (Ramirez) urge you all to get to know him and ask him questions...he will be in our (gay) parade and have a booth in our (gay) festival. By the way, one of Phil Thalheimer's highest-ranking executives in his company is transsexual." In a further revelation of just how anti-christian Thalheimer really is, as well as, how supportive of same-sex relationships he is, Ramirez wrote in his September 16, 2004 Gay and Lesbian Times column (http://www.gaylesbiantimes.com/?id=3439&issue=873): "Phil Thalheimer is for gay unions, he is for compassionate medical marijuana use for cancer and AIDS patients, he is not against gay adoptions and he believes the Boy Scouts should pay the fair market value on their rent in Balboa Park and Phil Thalheimer's parents survived the holocaust...he is definitely not against all hate crime legislation...I do not like the misinformation and false rumors that Phil Thalheimer is associated with the radical religious right and is anti-gay...both big lies." Enter Joel Anderson Joel Anderson has spent years marketing himself in ultra-conservative East San Diego County as a very conservative, pro-life Republican. The James Hartline Report has interviewed many East County Republicans to ascertain why Anderson is considered to be a pro-life conservative. Most responses came from those who support Anderson because of his ties to helping other pro-life Republicans to get elected in San Diego County. None of those responding could tell if Anderson has a religious faith as the foundation of his pro-life support. It seems that most of Anderson's pro-life activism has been intertwined with politics, rather than any true religious convictions. Whatever Anderson's motives have been for his public, pro-life persona, he clearly divorced himself from them in his association with Phil Thalheimer's extremely pro-homosexual 2004 campaign. The James Hartline Report has reviewed Thalheimer's "460 Campaign Disclosure Forms" for his 2004 City Council bid. The financial transactions between Thalheimer and Anderson sent shockwaves throughout the many volunteers working for the James Hartline Report. Clearly, Anderson prostituted away his alledged pro-family credentials while working for Thalheimer. How does one of the most perceived Conservative Republicans in San Diego County sell out to one of the most pro-homosexual liberal Republicans in California, and yet, seek to continue to campaign as an ultra conservative in his bid to become the 77th District State Assemblyman to replace Jay LaSuer in 2006? That will be one of the grave questions Anderson will have to answer as his campaign against pro-life candidate Debbie Beyer commences in the days ahead. The campaign disclosure forms submitted by Thalheimer reveals that Anderson was not only printing and mailing campaign literature for the pro-homosexual Thalheimer, but he was also a highly paid political consultant for Thalheimer and a salaried staff member for Thalheimer during his 2004 campaign. Clearly, Anderson was suffering from some type of moral schizophrenia during his Thalheimer partnership. While Anderson was a paid consultant and staff member on Thalheimer's team, Thalheimer set up a booth at the 2004 Gay Pride Festival. In a shocking photograph posted on the lesbian website, Hillquest.Com, Thalheimer is seen in the photo, in his campaign booth at the Gay Pride Festival in July 2004, with his campaign sign "Thalheimer For City Council" attached to a rainbow homosexual flag (http://homepage.mac.com/hillquest/PhotoAlbum12.html). The photograph on the Hillquest.Com website shows Thalheimer hugging a lesbian in his pro-homosexual campaign booth. This particular lesbian is the anti-christian, gay community business leader that operates Hillquest (www.hillquest.com), the website that carries the hate page against Christian Activist James Hartline called The James Hartline Watch (www.hillquest.com/community/jhartline.html). Joel Anderson was a paid consultant to Thalheimer during this gay pride fiasco. During this period of time while Anderson was consulting Thalheimer, the campaign made over $3,000 in purchases from homosexual companies for rent and campaign paraphernalia.
The Love Of Money Is A Root Of Much Evil The following financial statements are certified and filed at the San Diego City Clerk's Office* (*These are the numbers filed with the City Clerk's Office by the Thalheimer Campaign. The James Hartline Report is not responsible for Thalheimer's accounting.) While Anderson is now publicly claiming to be a pro-family, pro-life conservative, he was partnering with Thalheimer and the candidate's pro-gay ideology last year to see Thalheimer elected. This included Anderson personally giving $500 in contributions to the pro-homosexual Thalheimer's campaign in 2004. 2005: Anderson Continues His Pro-Life Betrayal It seems that once Joel Anderson and his company got a taste of the pro-homosexual money trail of Phil Thalheimer in 2004, he kept going down that anti-family trail in 2005. In fact, Anderson betrayed his own party by endorsing a non-Republican for mayor in the 2005 San Diego mayoral primary. It wasn't just any non-Republican though, it was a member of the Libertarian Party, Richard Rider (www.riderformayor.com/tbcm/_/endorsements). "I am running with the express purpose of draining off as many Conservative Republican voters as possible from Pete Wilson, even if the tactic ensures the election of the Democratic candidate." This is the same Richard Rider that Joel Anderson endorsed in 2005. But it not just the endorsement of Rider that betrays Anderson's Republican credentials. It is his endorsement of Rider that betrays his alledged pro-family credentials. In 1994, while a candidate for California Lt. Governor, Rider enthusiastically visited an illegal cannibas club in San Francisco (http://www.lp.org/lpn/9411-campaigns.html) to learn more about the distribution of illegal marijuana. The free distribution and sale of all street drugs is a key platform component of Rider's Libertarian Party. Clearly, Joel Anderson's support of both Thalheimer and Rider, who support liberalizing marijuana laws, runs into direct conflict with every pro-family group in San Diego. Anderson's endorsement of Richard Rider was also another black mark on preventing gay marriages in California as well. When Richard Rider attended a mayoral forum at the Gay and Lesbian Center during the campaign (http://sandiego.indymedia.org/en/2005/06/109470.shtml), he landed a deadly blow to resisting the gay marriage movement with this comment: "Government should not prohibit or mandate domestic partners partner benefits," Rider said. "Why is it left for government to say who's family and who's not? Get the government out of marriage and leave it to religious or civil authorities!" Here is part of the platform for the Libertarian Party that Richard Rider belongs to, when Joel Anderson endorsed him: On Sexual Rights: Government has presumed to decide acceptability over sexual practices in personal relationships, imposing a particular code of moral and social values and displacing personal choice in such matters. Adults have the right to private choice in consensual sexual activity. We would repeal existing laws and policies intended to condemn, affirm, encourage or deny sexual lifestyles or any set of attitudes about such lifestyles. On Women's Rights and Abortion: We oppose all laws likely to impose restictions on free choice and private property or to widen tyranny through reverse discrimination. We call for a repeal of all laws discriminating against women, such as protective labor laws and marriage or divorce laws which deny the full rights of men and women. Use of Recreation Street Drugs: Individuals should have the right to use drugs, whether for medical or recreational purposes, without the fear of legal reprisals, but must be held legally responsible for the consequences of their actions only if they violate others' rights. Repeal all laws establishing criminal or civil penalties for the use of drugs.
Party All The Time! Party All The Time! Joel Anderson & His Drinking Buddies of YRFSD One of the saddest stories in San Diego politics is the upcoming young members of San Diego's Young Republican Federation of San Diego (YRFSD). With all of the great troubles facing the young children of San Diego, there can be no worse example then young adults who repeatedly demonstrate their public irresponsiblity to these same youth by drinking and drinking and drinking and drinking. Photographs on the YRFSD website seem to indicate that nearly every Young Republican Federation of San Diego event is a booze fest (http://www.yrfsandiego.org/photos.htm). In addition to the continuous drinking parties scheduled by YRFSD, an even more insidious component to the group is their casting aside the moral values of Christian Conservatives, in support for extremely big tent, liberal Republicans, like recently elected Jerry Sanders. YRFSD was fanatical in its support for Sanders even though he rode in his seventh Gay Pride parade in 2005 and has an extensive history of support radical homosexual groups and causes. And now YRFSD is moving past their support for pro-gay Mayor Jerry Sanders and they have set their sights on seeing candidate Joel Anderson elected to the State Assembly (www.yrfsandiego.org/calendar.htm). Truly, Anderson's relationship with the YRFSD provides even more revelation about his true "family values." According to YRFSD, Anderson is a long term member of the group (www.yrfsandiego.org/calendar.htm#joel) and they are rewarding him with big time fundraising. While YRFSD held its continuous drinking parties, and compaigned agressively for pro-homosexual Jerry Sanders, there was Anderson in full agreement via his maintained membership in a group demonstrating anything but traditional family values.
Campaign Corruption In 1998 For many voters in San Diego, cleaning up financial corruption is the highest priority. For many others, particularly Christian Conservative voters, the eroded moral landscape is the preeminent issue. Anderson, clearly, has had problems in both areas. According to a 1998 published report in San Diego News Notes (www.sdnewsnotes.com/ed/notes/0698note.htm), Anderson, who was then a candidate for the 75th State Assembly seat, had a major financial corruption blunder occur in his campaign. The impropriety was so severe, that it spread throughout the California Republican Assembly (CRA) endorsement process for the campaign. In the local San Diego County CRA, the organization had a clear rule that local delegates could not vote on the endorsement of a candidate by whom the delegate has been paid "for work done during the current campaign season." According to Convention Chairman Sylvia Sullivan, delegate Jaime Langius repeatedly denied that he was working for Joel Anderson's campaign. When East County CRA Vice President Michael Kumeta produced a campaign disclosure form showing a $1000 payment to Langius by the Anderson campaign in 1998, Langius finally removed himself from being a delegate. Sullivan and Kumeta also reported that Langius worked at the time as a consultant for Schuman, Hoy & Associates, the political consulting firm managing the Anderson campaign, and that Langius had stacked his local CRA Unit with paid employees of the same firm. Anderson's campaign corruption episode, destroyed the ability of the other conservative Republican in the race, pro-life candidate Mark Price, to receive the CRA endorsment he previously had achieved, thus allowing pro-abortion moderate Charlene Zettel to win the race.
What do Joel Anderson, Phil Thalheimer and the gay agenda have in common? Certainly not Christian Conservative values. To all Christians in San Diego County: Warning! There is another wolf or two among the sheep!
